Welcoming our new interns

Welcoming our new interns

We’re excited to announce our new interns this semester, Chloe and Michael. Each semester, we offer internships for college juniors and seniors studying public relations. These up-and-coming PR professionals have the chance to gain hands-on experience in an agency setting while learning what it’s like to work in the public relations industry.

We caught up with them this week to ask why they chose to study PR, what they consider a dream job and and other fun facts. Welcome, Chloe & Michael!

Chloe Durham, Southeastern University, Communications Major

Why are you studying public relations?
I am studying public relations because I want to use creativity and strategy to serve others.

What do you hope to do as a McLeod Communications intern?
As a McLeod Communications intern, I hope to learn more about the field of public relations, the process of RFPs and improve my writing skills for digital media, press releases and public speaking.

Why do you believe public relations is important?
Public relations is essential to the communication process because gives vision and imagination a tactical plan. It helps turn dreams into actions through intentional strategies.

What is your PR dream job?
My dream job would be at a PR firm, so that I could gain experience working with a variety of institutions, organizations and companies.

What is a fun fact about yourself?
I am blind in my left eye. I do not have depth perception, yet I played soccer from when I was five through the collegiate level.

Michael Mezich, University of South Florida, Mass Communications Major

Why are you studying public relations?
I want to learn how to tell a person or an organization’s story and connect them with their audience. Public relations felt like a better career path than journalism because I can focus on the organizations and stories that matter most to me.

What do you hope to do as a McLeod Communications intern?
My goal is to help tell McLeod Communications’ story while also providing unique skills and perspectives to assist clients as well.

Why do you believe public relations is important?
Public relations is so important for creating bonds. Katherine Barchetti said, “make a customer, not a sale.” Public relations is one of the best ways to do that.

What is your PR dream job?
My PR dream job would be working for the Milwaukee Bucks.

What is a fun fact about yourself?
I am pursuing a minor in studio art.
