A Leader’s Guide to Surviving Public Criticism and Outrage
We live in an era when information travels faster and farther than any point in history. The free flow of ideas is often beneficial for organizations trying to promote a service, sell a product, raise money or advocate a worthy cause. But it can just as quickly invite a tsunami of criticism, which can inflict damage to your company’s reputation. A wounded reputation, and the effort required to repair it, threatens an organization’s capacity to carry out its mission and reach its goals.
At McLeod Communications, we are excited to announce the launch of our Crisis Messaging Action Plan (Crisis MAP) to help strengthen your organization’s communication and guard against the threat of a public relations crisis. Our experienced facilitators will conduct an interactive training session with your leadership team, walking through the anatomy of a crisis and discussing situations most likely to threaten your organization. We will conclude with a tabletop exercise (it’s fun when it isn’t real).
How can my organization benefit from Crisis MAP training?
Helps guard and defend your reputation
Helps you get in front of a problem before it develops
Reduces the chance of over/under reacting, which makes matters worse
Strengthens your organization’s overall communication
What does the Crisis MAP training include?
30-min introductory discussion with leadership
Presentation to leadership team on crisis messaging
Facilitate discussion on potential reputational threats and vulnerabilities
Provide Crisis MAP handbook to all participants
Provide blueprint (in Crisis MAP handbook) for customized crisis plan
How much time is required?
The total time which includes the presentation, discussions and tabletop exercise is approximately 3 hours. Our training is always customized to the client. We can condense the material to make the session shorter, or we can extend the training for clients wishing to take a deeper dive into crisis communications planning.
Is the training virtual or in-person?
We currently offer both options. When training in-person, we adhere to safety and social distancing guidelines.
